Did you know your thoughts and language contribute to your overall health and wellbeing?

Updated: Oct 18, 2022

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you had a wonderful time and are looking forward to what 2022 will bring.

It's that time of year when many of us start to think about making positive changes in our lives. I was thinking about this today and I'd like to share some ideas below with you that you may not have thought about before!

Do you feel healthy?

Whilst many of us can be seen to look physically healthy, there are other important factors contributing to our overall health and well-being.

How have you been emotionally, mentally, and energetically these past two years? The world has changed a lot, are you keeping well?

Many of us are familiar with the phrases 'we are what we eat' and 'use it or lose it' when it comes to our physical health.

But, did you know?

  • unhealed trapped emotions can cause physical symptoms in our body

  • our thoughts and beliefs can contribute to creating pain and tension

  • the language we use can affect our health

  • science has proven our thoughts can help heal us

  • having an attitude of gratitude can assist our healing

Our thoughts and our language have a huge impact on our health and well-being.

Many of us have heard of the 'placebo effect', but have you also heard of the other side of the coin the 'nocebo effect'?

The placebo and nocebo effects are both very powerful and are created by our brains - they can affect us in many different ways. I feel it is important to know them both as it helps us to understand just how powerful we are - we can make conscious choices to help improve any situation.

(Quote above by Dr. brucelipton.com)

We are powerful With the nocebo effect - we can make ourselves ill through thought alone. If we believe we will get sick and constantly worry about getting sick - it is possible to cause that to happen within us.

When we say things like 'I feel terrible', 'I have a bad back', 'this is my bad knee' etc... We help to reinforce these things in our brains, and we can delay healing.

Reversing all this and we have the placebo effect!

Changing the way we explore Over the years, I have moved away from the whole 'wear and tear' and 'needing to fix' language and way of doing things and now focus on the power of our abilities to heal with comfortable movement, positive thoughts, and affirmations and it works better, I have to say!

We have the power within us to heal ourselves

There are incredible stories of healing - through using the power of thought and the feelings they create in many books and websites. 'DuckDuckGo' is a great search engine to start exploring this!

'Seeing' yourself doing your favourite activities with loved ones can be very powerful in creating a healing process. It has no side effects and is easy to do. The only limit is our imagination!

When we change our mindset and language, incredible things can happen.

Reading this table, can you sense the big impact the two sides could have if we were the one on the receiving end?

Isn't it incredible what 26 little letters can create depending on how you arrange them?! Are you familiar with any of these?

With all these things in mind, my gentle Somatics classes are much more than just movement classes these days. As most of you know Somatics helps to calm and reset our nervous system. This alone can help us emotionally, physically, and mentally... not forgetting the release of tension and relaxation of the mind will help energy flow freely through you - helping us energetically too!

Below are some 'physical' conditions a gentle Somatics session can help ease and improve. All types of Arthritis, Back Pain, Disc problems, Frozen Shoulder, Fibromyalgia, Headaches, Insomnia, Joint Pain, Migraines, Neck, Shoulder, and Hand Pain, Plantar Fasciitis and Foot Pain, Hip and Leg Pain, Uneven leg length, Scoliosis, Sciatica, Stress, and Anxiety. Plus many more...

More information about this term is available here!! Many thanks for reading, have a wonderful 2022.

Big hugs,
